This is the NY Media, so, of course, people are going craaaazy and inciting mass hysteria over Chuck Knoblauch "disappearing" (one person who shall remain nameless was having a freakout because "first Heath Ledger, now this?!" (and was serious, btw, because Chuck's a hermit who hates the media, etc.etc)

Peter Abraham a "well-respected" Yankees journalist was being snarky. And finally, someone with a brain replied to his post after 67 other comments of stupidity. And you all have to suffer this because, well, this is important to me, dammit.

Pete -- Service of Process or a Subpoena can be hard when the person you're trying to find is ducking service, since the subpoena has to be actually delivered to the actual person. As a private lawyer, when I've been able to devote resources 100% to finding and serving someone, this can take lots of time and be very frustrating.

Knoblauch (along with the rest of the world) knew a subpoena was coming in advance. The US Marshals have lots on their plate already and probably can't devote anyone full time to hunting down Knoblauch. They've probably visited his home a few times and some other places he usually can be found at, but that's all they can do.

In my experience, US Marshals are dedicated and professional people. I'd be surprised if the Marshals were doing anything other than their best under the circumstances.

Pete, you're a good, fair-minded, and interesting guy. Why don't you (with the resources of your newspaper behind you) try to hunt Knoblauch down? If you find him before the Marshals do, then maybe you can critique the Marshals' performance - taking into account that they have other assignments as well. If you won't, then I think it's as unfair for you to call out the Marshals as it would be for me to go through everything you've written, single out all the wrong trade calls you've made, and conclude that you don't know one end of a baseball bat from the other.

All the best, and BTW I've really enjoyed the guest blogger month

(HEY LOOK. A GUY WITH A MOTHER FUCKING BRAIN. OMFG. BAN HIM FROM THE BLOG!!)

This is probably the first year that I've spared you're friends-list with a lj-cut. Be glad because this is likely not going to happen again next September 11th.

omg, i'm srsly so exxxcited, this is such a gloriou-asssss day!

cut for picture of my feelings! )

Seriously though, I really wished Tom Glavine would've won his 300 wins, just because I like him better out of the three trying to get the major career accomplishments this summer. But, on the other hand, I'm kinda glad A-Rod got his shit before That Other Guy, just because I might hate A-Rod in many different ways (as seen here) but at least the only thing I worry about being near A-Rod's ass is a she-male's dick.

PS. I really hate how cold and corporate "America's game" has gotten (and dammit, I'm a Yankee fan!). Because there is no reason I should not have seen this goddamn game (at the very least so I could boo A-Rod from the safety of my E-Z chair at every at-bat) except, oh look! MLB & Fox need to suck money out of yoooou the stupid fan, because they want you to see their stupid game of the week (obviously not a Yankee game this weekend) at a 3:55 PM start (WTF that doesn't even make sense) and so any other local or non-local baseball games are blacked out for you. But, again. That's a rant for another time. I should go put on a shirt for Karen's party, lol, and stop yelling at the world =/
Hey? Do you remember when I could go through a whole day without having to take a nap in the middle of it? Yeah, me too....

Speaking of, I've been pretty good with not mocking the hell out of Corzine. I'm glad to see that most of the newscasters have been doing my job instead. I might actually watch Letterman tonight if I remember to see what he says. I know I got a billion jokes. But, seriously, my hate aside, I'm pretty pleased that apparently those write-in votes actually do work sometimes, LMMFAO, because look! My vote-in vote from the last election is now the substitute governer again. Cody should've just ran for office, lol. Oh, and that crash did look horrible and it's one of the many reasons why I hate NJ highways, but ehhh. At least *I* already always wore my seatbelt, even before Dan died.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Mariano Rivera is the only player in the major leagues with the No. 42.

That number was retired in 1997 in honor of Jackie Robinson, but players who already had the number were allowed to keep wearing it. Rivera is the only one left. This Sunday, he will have plenty of company as Major League Baseball is allowing any player, coach or manager who wishes to wear 42 to do so. The Yankees announced yesterday that manager Joe Torre, Derek Jeter and Robinson Cano will honor Robinson by wearing his number.

Jeter called it "an easy decision" to don Robinson's number, and also said: "If there's one player I could play with or talk to, it'd be Jackie Robinson."

Rivera said he thinks this is a great idea. He actually wishes MLB would go farther and have everyone wear 42 for one day.

"I wear it with honor," Rivera said. "I wear it with pride."

Cano is particularly tickled to wear 42. He is named for Robinson, his father Jose's favorite player.

"We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him," said Cano, gesturing around the clubhouse.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] luckystar37, I am now in love with this band. Soon, once I have time (I'm shooting for Sunday afternoon), so will all of you.

And even though I don't like talking about the sport during the playoffs (and on Friday the 13th at that!) a verrrry happy birthday to my sexy cheese eatin' hair dyin' almost died three years ago Czech, Patrik Elias.
So. I've been watching since 2:45. My official "this is not a lie, oh my god, they're right it is him!" was the fact that The Boss sent out a letter. And Giambi's letter made me a little teary-eyed. Because, fuck, when it's Giambi making me sad, you know it's bad.

I swear, if anyone even makes a joke about this (besides my dad) I will friends-cut you no questions asked.

RIP Cory Lidle.

I had other stuff to say, but it doesn't seem as important anymore.
8th inning, and I'm crying like a little girl.

Bern-ie Will-iams. Bern-ie Will-iams.

I don't know what I'm going to do next year. No more "Bernie go boom," no more "Bern-ie Will-iams." I'm going to miss him liek wo. My soft-spoken, first yankee boyfriend, puerto rican, guitar playing center fielder.
